Baby Chicks in First Grade

Mrs. Brown’s first grade class is working with Morgan Ball, the education outreach coordinator, to hatch chicks in the classroom. Ms. Ball came and set up an incubator with 7 eggs. The eggs take 21 days to hatch. When they hatch, the baby chicks will be placed into a cage with a heat lamp, both which were provided to the classroom. The chicks will eventually be taken to a Linn County farm where they will be raised. This hands-on learning opportunity was provided through the Iowa Ag Literacy Foundation and Linn County Education Outreach.
