Lace Up for Learning

LACE_logo_bwLace Up for Learning is the culminating activity for the Hiawatha Runing Club each year. The race offers distances of 10K, 5K, and one mile. Each distance has age or grade level awards. Although participation is our main goal, Hiawatha has had more than it fair share of award winners in the past. The one award that Hiawatha has not earned yet is the participation trophy. This trophy is given to the school that has the highest percent of its students and staff participating in the event. Since the Hiawatha Running Club started in 2011, Hiawatha has come in second place three times. Wear your running club shirt and support a good cause. All proceeds go to the Cedar Rapids Schools Foundation.

In the past most Hiawatha students have done the one mile run only. Last year a large number of runners challenged themselves and ran the 5K. If you choose to run the 10K or 5K, you may also run the one mile run at no additional cost.  Register early for a discounted 10K or 5K rate. Don't forget to mention that you are a Hiawatha student or staff member.
